What is Acupuncture and is it safe?

Acupuncture is an Eastern medical therapy with a history of 3,000-5,000 years, that uses solid, surgical grade stainless steel needles into specific points located along meridians on the body. Acupuncture can help to decrease inflammation, release the body's natural painkillers and endorphins, and regulate the body's natural flow of energy to help restore function.

Acupuncture is safe, gentle and effective, and is increasingly the subject of research for pain, women's health, and mental health. Side-effects from treatment are very minimal, if any, and can include minor discomfort at the needle site, bruising, or small bumps. We always recommend patients eat before treatment, to minimize the chances of dizziness or fainting, which is also uncommon. Acupuncture is also very relaxing! Enjoy the much-needed rest and reset.

Conditions treated.

My goal as an Acupuncturist is to provide safe, gentle and effective, evidence-based care that supports the body's natural ability to heal. Having worked in a hospital-based setting for over seven years, I continue to have great working relationships with many MD's, OB's, midwives and lactation consultant's throughout the metro.
